Overcoming Anxiety

The symptoms of anxiety conditions are sometimes not all that obvious as they often develop slowly over time and, given we all experience some anxiety at various points in our lives, it can be hard to know how much is too much.

Normal anxiety tends to be limited in time and connected with some stressful situation or event, such as a job interview. The type of anxiety experienced by people with an anxiety condition is more frequent or persistent, not always connected to an obvious challenge, and impacts on their quality of life and day-to-day functioning. While each anxiety condition has its own unique features, there are some common symptoms including:
  • Physical: panic attacks, hot and cold flushes, racing heart, tightening of the chest, quick breathing, restlessness, or feeling tense, wound up and edgy
  • Psychological: excessive fear, worry, catastrophizing, or obsessive thinking
  • Behavioural: avoidance of situations that make you feel anxious which can impact on study, work or social life

These are just some of a number of symptoms that you might experience. They're not designed to provide a diagnosis – for that you'll need to see a doctor – but they can be used as a guide.  If you are experiencing ANY of these issues and they are interfering with you living your best life - whether it be holding you back in relationships, social friendships, at work or any other area of your life - we can address it!  There is no need to continue to feel as though you are drowning or unable to control the panic.  Whether you are struggling with a more generalised anxiety or its situational (like public speaking or social), perhaps you've suffered trauma and don't feel safe or maybe you're just overwhelmed and trying to cope; there will be unconscious patterns at play!

veryone's experience and reason for seeking assistance will be different!  That's why the first session we do together is so important!  It will assist me in uncovering the unconscious patterns of thoughts, emotions and behaviour that are interfering and identify any resources (like self belief, self confidence, resilience etc) that will assist you in achieving your goals and desires and help you to be a happier, healthier, more joyful you!

On average, for fears and phobias and more situation specific anxiety, I see clients from 2-4 sessions.  For more generalised anxiety, I work with clients for 4-8 sessions, so I would advise you to explore package options to ensure that you get the most from your coaching experience.  All packages include access to resources that you can utilise between sessions to assist you in overcoming the anxiety.
