Overcoming Depression

Depression can impact the way you think, feel and behave.  If you've been struggling with feeling numb or disconnected  or feel like your sense of self has been clouded by a persistent low mood, you're not alone.  Are you ready to lift that dark cloud and find the light at the end of the tunnel?

According to Beyond Blue if you've 
you've felt sad, down or miserable most of the time, or have lost interest or pleasure in usual activities, and have also experienced several of the signs and symptoms across at least three of the categories below for more than two weeks, you may be experiencing depression.  It’s important to remember that we all experience some of these symptoms from time to time, and it may not necessarily mean you're depressed. Equally, not everyone who is experiencing depression will have all of these symptoms.
Behaviour:
  • not going out anymore
  • not getting things done at work/school
  • withdrawing from close family and friends
  • relying on alcohol and sedatives
  • not doing usual enjoyable activities
  • unable to concentrate

Feelings:
  • overwhelmed
  • guilty
  • irritable
  • frustrated
  • lacking in confidence
  • unhappy
  • indecisive
  • disappointed
  • miserable
  • sad


Thoughts
  • 'I’m a failure.'
  • 'It’s my fault.'
  • 'Nothing good ever happens to me.'
  • 'I’m worthless.'
  • 'Life’s not worth living.'
  • 'People would be better off without me.'

Physical
  • tired all the time
  • sick and run down
  • headaches and muscle pains
  • churning gut
  • sleep problems
  • loss or change of appetite
  • significant weight loss or gain
If you feel as though any of these symptoms are holding you back in life, it doesn't much matter if it can be diagnosed as depression or not - if it is interfering with you living your best life, you can address it!  You may have a pattern of belief that you're not enough that filters through your life, creating difficulties or a lack of confidence, you may feel stuck in life because of circumstances and that has you feeling frustrated and unhappy or you may have already been diagnosed with depression - everyone's experience and reason for seeking assistance will be different!  

That's why the first session we do together is so important!  It will assist me in uncovering the unconscious patterns of thoughts, emotions and behaviour that are interfering and identify any resources (like self belief, self confidence, resilience etc) that will assist you in achieving your goals and desires and help you to be a happier, healthier, more joyful you!


On average, I work with clients for 4-8 sessions on these kinds of topics, so I would advise you to explore package options to ensure that you get the most from your coaching experience.  All packages include access to resources that you can utilise between sessions to assist you in moving beyond depression.
